Macmerry and Gladsmuir Community Council is seeking two new members.
It is allowed nine but currently only has seven.
Ian Pryde, community council chair, said: “If you care for our community then you can contribute to the wellbeing of our place. The only added qualification needed for the role is that you live in the Macmerry and Gladsmuir Community Council area and are over 16 years of age.
“The community council has the right to be consulted on any planning applications in the area which they can comment on and also kept informed about licensing applications We consult the local community and put forward their views to the local authority and other statutory organisations including the Scottish Government, NHS Lothian and Police Scotland.
“Members will also benefit from some free courses offered by the Open University to help them with their role as a member of the community council.”
