Volunteers helping youngsters with terminal illnesses have received a cash boost.
Dunbar Sewing Group has been working with Project Linus UK, a foundation which organises the distribution of comfort blankets to children with terminal illnesses, who have suffered recent bereavements or from disadvantaged communities who are ‘in need of a hug’.
The group of volunteers approached BeGreen Dunbar in a bid to receive funding from Community Windpower’s community benefits fund.
A £500 donation will be used to buy soft cotton and warm fleece to craft the next batch of quilts.
Anouska Woods, community coordinator at BeGreen Dunbar, said: “The soft quilts have been proven to improve the happiness and mental wellbeing of those who receive them.”
