A SUMMER celebration to mark this year’s Care Home Open Week was enjoyed at Drummohr Care Home in Wallyford.
Visitors and guests from the community, as well as family and friends, were invited to join residents and staff at the recent event.
National Care Home Open Week is hosted by Championing Social Care and is designed to connect care homes with their communities.
Residents and staff of the HC-One-owned 60-bed home met Colin Beattie, MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh, and chatted to him about what life was like at Drummohr.
The care home’s theme was ‘Summer Celebration’ and throughout the week, residents, staff, families and friends enjoyed a variety of fun-filled activities.
Visitors found out about a “rewarding career” in care and the opportunities for community engagement and volunteering.
Mahri Sands, home manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome MSP Colin Beattie to our home and open the doors of Drummohr again to welcome in our local community and bring everyone together to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2022.
“Everyone had an amazing time.
“We are proud to support Wallyford and our open week celebrations provided a great opportunity to reconnect with our local community after the challenges of the pandemic, to support community engagement and to remind our local community that our kind care teams are here if they ever need support for themselves or a loved one.”
Mr Beattie added: “It was a pleasure to attend Drummohr Care Home’s summer celebration event as part of Care Home Open Week 2022.
“It was a fantastic afternoon with entertainment for all and a great opportunity to showcase what our local care homes have to offer.
“Thank you to all the staff at Drummohr for the hard work put into this event and I do hope to be back again soon.”
