GREEN-FINGERED experts have visited Aberlady ahead of a national awards ceremony.
Volunteers from the Aberlady in Bloom group welcomed two judges last week for the annual Beautiful Scotland judging.
Sandy Scott and Adrian Miles stopped off in the village as part of a packed two days of visits.
Starting at Waterston House, headquarters of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club, they were given a tour of the village and shown the results of the hard work of both Aberlady in Bloom and other volunteers in the village.
As well as the horticultural efforts, the judges also have to consider environmental and community aspects in their marking.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Some of the volunteers were on hand in the Aberlady Memorial Garden, which was highlighted in the presentation as being a great success after only 16 months of growth.
“The group now has to sit tight and await the results, which will be released in September.
“Thanks to everyone who helped make Aberlady look great this year, from local businesses and individuals who have provided sponsorship to East Lothian Council with their advice and support.”
