North Berwick is getting into the festival spirit with a new post box topper inspired by Fringe By the Sea.

The topper depicts the Big Top tent in its recognisable yellow and blue colour scheme, with summer flowers, hedgehogs and festival bunting bringing some life to the town centre.

It is situated on Quality Street, with other summer and nautical themed toppers having appeared on St Baldreds Road and Fidra Road.

The group which has now been called 'NB Toppers' have been providing fun crocheted displays throughout the town for several months now, often coinciding with events such as the jubilee.

NB Toppers consists of resident knitting whizz Pat Christie, Judy Lockhart-Hunter, Linda Digney and chair of North Berwick in Bloom, Libby Morris.

Mrs Lockhart-Hunter said: "We know how hard the North Berwick in Bloom volunteers have been working to get the town ready for the Britain in Bloom judging next week, so we wanted to make something which would celebrate their efforts.

"The topper on Quality Street in particular has lots of colours and flowers.

"This topper will feature on the in Bloom judging route so we really hope it brings a smile to the judges on the day.

"We also included the Fringe by the Sea big top tent on this topper which we thought was fitting as the festival is so close by in the Lodge.

"The other toppers have more of a nautical theme and celebrate our town generally with the little lighthouse and lots of sea creatures.

"The Britain in Bloom finals and being host town for Fringe By The Sea both really help put North Berwick on the map, we hope our toppers help to celebrate this.

"We are also working on a special display which will be unveiled shortly for Fringe by the Sea.

"We were really excited to be asked to make something and bring some colourful crochet to the event!"
