TWO nurseries have been celebrating being ranked among the best in Scotland.

Pear Tree Nursery Church Street, which only opened earlier this year, and its sister branch at Meadowpark were ranked in the top 20 in the country by parents.

The top 20 nurseries in Scotland have received an award from the day nurseries review site daynurseries.co.uk, with the award based on the nursery’s reviews from the children’s family and carers.

At the same time, Pear Tree Nursery Church Street was toasting further success after being crowned Nursery of the Year Scotland at the NDNA Awards.

Among the top 20 nurseries, establishments were rated on overall standard, facilities and outside space, learning, resources and equipment and ICT, care, activities, staff, food and nutrition, management, cleanliness, safeguarding as well as value for money.

Only the two Haddington nurseries made the top 20 from throughout East Lothian.

Pear Tree Nursery also has a branch on the town’s West Road.

'Delighted'

Charlotte Goode, nursery manager of Pear Tree Nursery Church Street, was thrilled with the news.

She said: “We are delighted to be in the top 20 recommended nurseries in Scotland.

“We are a relatively new setting and have worked very hard to build a strong and knowledgeable team.

“The children are at the centre of everything we do, and we strive to provide them with the best care and development opportunities.”

Throughout the UK, there are more than 13,000 nurseries, with over 400,000 people working in the childcare sector.

Amanda Hopkins, reviews manager of daynurseries.co.uk, congratulated the nurseries and said: “Being chosen as one of the best nurseries in the UK by family and carers of children that attend the setting is a huge achievement.

“Our award is recognition from parents and carers that this nursery is offering their children a high standard of care that is key to their social and emotional development as well as their learning.

“We hope these awards give parents that much-needed guidance in choosing the right nursery for their child.”
