PARENTS and staff completed the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Team Relay to raise funds for playground improvements at Musselburgh Burgh Primary School.

They enjoyed community support at the recent event, including from some of the pupils who turned out to cheer them along the route and join them at the finishing line at the Pinkie Playing Fields in Musselburgh.

Both teams ran strong relay legs, with the parents finishing 32nd out of 259 relay teams in a time of 3hrs 37mins. The staff team followed closely behind to gain 79th place in a time of 3hrs 57mins.

The run took them from Holyrood Road in Edinburgh along the coast via Portobello to a changeover point at Fisherrow Links before crossing the River Esk.

The teams then ran along Musselburgh Racecourse to Prestonpans. From a changeover point at Port Seton Links, they headed along the coast through Longniddry and around the grounds of Gosford House. From Port Seton, they ran through Cockenzie and Prestonpans, then along the racecourse to the finishing line at Pinkie.

They have raised about £2,000 through their JustGiving page, which will be used to help cover the cost of much-needed play equipment for the playground.
