HUNDREDS of brightly coloured sunflowers could soon be raising their heads thanks to a special initiative.
Social enterprise Lil (Lower impact living) has teamed up with Redhouse Nurseries, near Longniddry, to show support for Ukraine.
Households are being encouraged to join the Seeds of Hope initiative to grow 1,000 sunflower seeds. Sunflowers have become a recognised symbol of hope and solidarity for Ukraine.
Louise Hastie, director of Haddington-based Lil, encouraged people to pick up their seeds from their High Street base.
Linda Playfair, Redhouse Nurseries director, said: “We love this project because not only are sunflower seeds fantastic for nature, for pollinators as they bloom, and when they seed for bird feed, but we really appreciated the symbolism of solidarity with Ukraine too.”
