A large gathering of local residents and families were welcomed to the lighting of a beacon in Wallyford to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Representatives from Musselburgh Sea Cadets, including their commanding officer Dick Irving and other junior officers, were present at the ceremony which took place on a grass area at St Clements Gardens North.
The event, which was organised by Wallyford Community Council, linked in with a national tribute last Thursday, June 2, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 70 year reign.
Penston Brass Band played a selection of music during the evening including a fanfare and the National Anthem, God Save the Queen, before Councillor John McMillan, Provost of East Lothian, lit the beacon.
Alistair Hadden, chairman of Wallyford Community Council, said: "The ceremony went very well and there was a good turn out of people."
The community council was delighted to receive a certificate of thanks for taking part in the celebration.
Bruno Peek OBE, pageantmaster for the jubilee beacons, said in a letter to the community council: "May I first take this opportunity to wish you well and hope you enjoy your involvement in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee beacons and its associated activities on June 2 in celebration of this unique moment in The Queen’s reign, and in her life too."
