A new amateur production of one of Scotland's most popular and successful musicals 'Sunshine on Leith' will take to the stage at The Brunton in Musselburgh this week.
The East Lothian theatre, in association with David Ross and Tommie Travers, will present the show.
Written by Stephen Greenhorn with songs by The Proclaimers, Sunshine on Leith is a funny, yet uplifting story of family, friendship and love. The musical features hits such as: I'm On My Way, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), Letter from America, and the title song, Sunshine on Leith.
A talented cast have come together from East Lothian and beyond to perform at The Brunton.
The roles of Ally and Davy are played by Ryan Buist and Dan Cook, both drama students at Musselburgh's Queen Margaret University. Liz is played by Nikki Kingsley, a dance and drama student at Performing Arts Studio Scotland. In the role of Yvonne is Melissa McNaught, a graduate of the MGA Academy. Jean is played by Laura Cross, a teacher and musician who has experience with Southern Light and Showcase. Rab is portrayed by Gary McGregor, an East Lothian resident who has worked with Stenton Footlights and hosts as part of East Coast FM.
Mr Ross is an experienced director and theatre professional, well known across East Lothian for his work with The Brunton Performing Arts Network as a youth theatre tutor and production director, Our Lady of Loretto Youth Players director and as drama teacher at Dunbar Grammar School.
Julie Robinson is musical director for the production and has previously taken this role for MAMA (Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association) productions as well as running an instrumental tuition school in Musselburgh.

By bringing together local professional theatre makers with a talented community cast, we create opportunities for both participation in performing arts and the benefits that go with that, as well as an uplifting musical theatre production for our audiences to enjoy. The company will bring some sunshine and much needed fun to audiences with this uplifting musical theatre production."
Sunshine On Leith will run today, Thursday, May 26, at 7.30pm and tomorrow, Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28, 7.30pm and 2pm.
