A NUMBER of Ukrainian refugees are in Ireland ready to be flown to Scotland to settle down in East Lothian when their visas are approved in the coming week.
Hannah MacAllister, who lives on the outskirts of Haddington, is passionate about welcoming refugees from the war-stricken county.
The 36-year-old recently set up a Facebook group called Welcoming Ukrainians to East Lothian, a guide page for refugees and their hosts.
On the page, advice is shared about job opportunities, social events, car shares, clothing and baby equipment donations, local information and other advice.

The digital marketing manager for Wild Island Botanic Gin is in contact with a Ukrainian woman named Mariana and her son Mark, who are currently in Ireland, having flown from Poland.
They will be welcomed to Hannah’s parents’ home in Athelstaneford.
She added: “I am extremely anxious for them to hit the ground running when they get here.
“I thought it would be a good idea to have one group where people could discuss ideas for welcome packs, help their guests make connections, and somewhere local businesses could post job opportunities.”
