HOMES in several parts of East Lothian are set to benefit from the installation of new a full fibre internet service.
GoFibre has already started the construction of a full fibre network that will deliver faster internet speeds to those living in Haddington, North Berwick and Dunbar.
GoFibre is based in Duns and is a subsidiary of Borderlink Broadband.
Construction is set to be completed in the summer, providing 12,000 homes with internet speeds up to 10 Gbps.
Only about 30 per cent of homes in the UK have access to such internet speeds, with the majority still relying on ageing copper wires for their broadband.
The works may cause some disruption, but the company stressed that residents would be kept up-to-date at all times and the works would be kept to a minimum where possible.
Alex Cacciamani, CEO at GoFibre, said: “The initial response we have had from all three communities has been fantastic, accelerating our plans to provide the digital infrastructure they need, now and in the future.”
