AN ASDA employee has been commended for rushing to the aid of an unwell elderly customer.
Lynette Thomson, who works at the supermarket's Tranent branch, went above and beyond to care for a customer who became suddenly unwell in store while shopping.
Lynette rushed to the assistance of the shopper, who had a bad coughing fit, bringing her a chair and a glass of water in a bid to help the pensioner get her breath back.
The kind Asda colleague reassured the woman and made her comfortable before continuing with her job once she had been assured that the lady was feeling better.
Lynette, who has been working as a front-end colleague in the store since it opened in 2015, said: "I could hear that the woman was unwell and appreciate how uncomfortable it is for anyone during the pandemic to suffer from a coughing fit.
"I went straight over to see if I could help her and check that she was OK.
"I am glad that I was able to help.
"She was very grateful and all she needed was someone to look after her for a wee bit, I was happy to do so."
Louise Mercer, Asda service section leader, said: "Lynette is one of the friendliest people I know.
"She is always willing to help our colleagues and customers.
"I was not surprised when the customer came to commend Lynette – she is a real star and an asset to our team."
