Fortune smiled on a Musselburgh man who scooped the jackpot in the ‘Lucky Numbers’ draw organised by Musselburgh Athletic Football Club.
Johnny Dunsmore was the first to win the £4,450 jackpot after more than two years of weekly draws.
As well as sharing it with his two friends Hughie Brown and Alan Evans, who are also from Musselburgh, he plans to use the cash to help a family member with an expensive medical procedure.
The trio, all in their seventies, are now retired and usually play golf together at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club in Prestonpans.
They also meet at the Store Club in Musselburgh on a Wednesday afternoon and buy a Lucky Numbers draw ticket, at a cost of £1 each, every week from Burgh supporter Linsey Brown.
This is the club’s main fundraising activity, which is supported by licensed premises in Musselburgh and visitors to Olivebank Stadium on match days.
The three friends are occasional visitors to Olivebank to watch and support the Burgh.
They were welcomed to Olivebank recently to receive the bumper cheque from club president Karl Cleghorn, toasting Johnny’s success with a large whisky each.
The new jackpot for this week’s Lucky Numbers is £700.
