ROADWORKS to install an underground full fibre network will disrupt a village for several months.

Utility works in Longniddry began on February 1 and will result in ongoing footway closure throughout the village until April 15.

Sections of the footway will be closed for no more than five days at a time, while access to properties will be maintained throughout.

Three-way control traffic lights are currently in place on the village's Main Street and Elcho Road.

Helen York, Longniddry Community Council chairperson, said: "We welcome the investment in an underground full fibre network for Longniddry which will give people a choice of networks and enable residents to access vastly improved broadband speeds.

"Whilst there is obviously inconvenience during the installation, we are pleased that Lothian Broadband met with Community Council members to address concerns, will provide free connections to some of our community facilities and contribute to the new Longniddry in Bloom initiative."
