A TALENTED lash artist has scooped a top national award – after almost missing the ceremony.
Jaime-Lee Reid was crowned the Best Lash Artist at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards shortly before Christmas.
The 24-year-old was delighted to receive the accolade and said: “It means a lot.
“Obviously, it makes me so proud that my clients really value me.
“It is just amazing and I really did not expect it.
“All the girls at the salon said it would be me but I did not believe it.”
HB Nails and Beauty, where Jaime-Lee has worked since 2019, was also in the running for Best Beauty Salon.

A team from the Haddington business made the trip through to Glasgow for the ceremony.
Jaime-Lee, who originally was working part-time at the business on Haddington’s Market Street while also working as a carer, said: “The whole day had been just so manic. I was running about and had not sat down.
“We got to the event just in time but we had ended up at the wrong hotel and the wrong awards night.
“We were looking about and everybody was dressed up and we went through to find our table and there was a big poster and it was a different awards night.
“We had to quickly get reception to phone us a taxi and we arrived a bit late and did not even make the Champagne start.”

However, it all ended well for Jaime-Lee, who grew up in Tranent and now lives in Port Seton, as she arrived in time to discover she had been crowned the winner.
The former Ross High School pupil, of JLR Lashes, started doing lashes as a hobby and was delighted with the award.
Jaime-Lee described the win as “totally amazing”, and said: “All the girls were screaming.
“I was still looking at the screen thinking: ‘Is that me?’
“It just did not click until a couple of seconds and then I thought: ‘What am I going to say?’”
