SCHOOLCHILDREN in the Musselburgh area enjoyed success in the fifth annual Christmas card competition run by local MSP Colin Beattie.
Mr Beattie, who represents Midlothian North and Musselburgh, invites all primary schoolchildren in the constituency to design a card with an annual theme, which last year was ‘Together with Family’.
Millie Cairns, a pupil at Wallyford Primary School, was runner-up, while Oliver Kecik, from Loretto RC Primary School, was fourth.
P6 at Musselburgh Burgh Primary School was third in the overall class prizes.
The winning design was used as the official Christmas card which Mr Beattie sent to constituents, businesses, colleagues and charities.
Book vouchers were also awarded to the winner and runners-up, as well as to the three best overall classes.
Mr Beattie’s fellow judges were Stephen Thomson, from JK Thomson in Musselburgh, and Trish Sime, from Bonnyrigg Rose FC.
This year’s winner was Eva Redmond, from Lasswade Primary School, and the overall class prize was won by P5M from Woodburn Primary School in Midlothian.
