KIND community members brought Christmas spirit to lonely and isolated members of North Berwick by providing handmade origami boxes filled with goodies to elderly people across the town.
Bass Rock Community Group made 180 origami boxes and filled 130 of them with tasty treats for vulnerable members of the community at Christmas.
Fifty of the boxes were given to North Berwick Day Centre to be filled by staff there, while the pre-filled 130 were delivered by North Berwick Community Connections volunteers to their members across the North Berwick Coastal ward.
Lotte MacRobert, an S1 pupil at North Berwick High School, gave a presentation to classmates to encourage her school to take part. With the help of an art teacher at the school, S1 pupils made about 200 cards.
Carol Stobie, project manager of North Berwick Coastal Community Connections, said: “We were thrilled to collaborate for a second Christmas Campaign with the wonderful Bass Rock Community Group, many of whom also volunteer with Community Connections.
“It means so much to our members to have these treats and cards delivered to their door, especially at a time when our gatherings have to be curtailed again and many will be stuck at home.
“We can’t thank all these incredible volunteers and pupils enough.”
Bass Rock Community Group hopes North Berwick residents will make it a New Year’s resolution to get involved with the town’s community to meet like-minded people of all ages and have lots of fun whilst doing so.
