MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Longniddry and District are toasting the end of four weeks of intensive fundraising – and celebrating more than £4,000 raised for local charities.

To kick off their fundraising efforts, the team arranged a barbecue weekend in late August in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland from which they raised £800.

Derek Easton, of the Rotary Club of Longniddry and District, said: “The JustGiving page is still open and donations are still coming in!”

On September 1, the club took part in a charity golf event at Craigielaw Golf Club and raised £3,000 to be disbursed to local charities.

Finally, the team covered the John Muir Way in a day – a Longniddry Rotarian walked each section of the John Muir Way – to raise money for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The Longniddry club was “delighted to have support from 15 other Rotary clubs on the route who were walking, providing hospitality and fellowship”.

A reception was held at the end of the walk at Dunbar Town House, with words of support and thanks from Provost John McMillan and Sarah Dartnell from CHAS.
