A MAN suffered facial injuries and had his wallet stolen in what police believe was a targeted attack in Tranent.
Officers are investigating the incident, which took place on the town’s Well Wynd at about 8pm on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said the man was attacked and had his wallet stolen within a flat before the disturbance continued onto the street.
The spokesperson stressed there is “no wider threat to the public”.
Detective Constable Marion Anderson, of Dalkeith CID, said: "We're appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious shortly before the incident or during the incident itself.
"We're trying to piece together exactly what happened so any information may prove to be important."
