BRAZILIAN, Cuban and Streetdance vibes will ring out across Wallyford tomorrow (Saturday).
At 2pm, outside the local community centre in Albert Place, East Lothian's Youth Music Initiative Carnival Street Band will celebrate its final blast after a two day workshop.
Based at the community centre, Marcus Britton from Oi Musica and Mat Clements from Where’s the One will lead a crash course in drum and brass grooves.
Fifteen young people from across East Lothian will get the chance to take part in this free project, funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative. With an emphasis on fun and accessibility, the achievements of the band can be shared at this short pop up performance to celebrate the streetband sound.
Councillor Jim Goodfellow, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing & Community Wellbeing, said: "Many thanks to East Lothian Arts Service’s Youth Music Initiative programme for providing this creative and fun course to take part in. A fantastic opportunity and much welcomed antidote as we navigate through Covid restrictions. Do come along and support East Lothian’s talented young musicians."
