A BRITISH Transport Police officer has been cleared of assaulting a teenage boy.
Niall Bonnar was alleged to have grabbed the boy by the clothing and repeatedly headbutted him to the head and face during an alleged incident at an address in Prestonpans last April.
Mr Bonnar, 31, was also alleged to have pinned the boy to a bed by the throat and compressed his throat before then placing the teenager in a headlock to his injury.
The BTP officer stood trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday, with the hearing being part-heard over two days spanning two months.
Following the evidence being heard, Mr Bonnar, of Johnstone Terrace, Port Seton, was found not guilty of the offence by Sheriff Robert Fife.
Mr Bonnar was cleared of assaulting the teenage boy at an address in Prestonpans on April 24 last year.
