A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with breaking into properties and theft in East Lothian, with all the incidents taking place on one night.
The 21-year-old was charged in connection with two break-ins in May and with the intention to commit theft.
The three incidents took place overnight from May 25 into May 26 in Cockenzie, Longniddry and East Linton.
Two BMW cars were stolen from two of the addresses, one from Longniddry and one from East Linton, with the vehicle taken from Longniddry later recovered.
The man was due to appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Wednesday).
Detective Inspector Laura Dickson said: “These types of crimes can have a devastating impact on victims and tackling acquisitive crime remains one of our top priorities. I would urge anyone who observes any unusual or suspicious behaviour to contact us via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in order that we can investigate and take action”
Residents are reminded to keep their properties protected and secure, with advice to do so on the Police Scotland website.
