RESIDENTS are being asked to put up bunting from July 25 to July 31 to celebrate what would have been this year’s Musselburgh Festival.
Although cancelled for the second year running due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event will be marked with photos and films on the Honest Toun’s Association’s (HTA) Facebook and Twitter feeds.
“This will enable people to remember past festivals and look forward to festivals in the future,” said Alison Elgin, HTA president.

A special feature of this year’s online celebration is a trio of anniversaries of Honest Lads and Honest Lassies from 25 years, 50 years and 60 years ago.
Ready to remember leading past festivals are: Honest Lad and Honest Lass 1961, George Innes and Elizabeth Bonthron (Moran); Honest Lad and Honest Lass 1971, Reno DiRollo and Elize Whittaker (Rutherford); and Honest Lad and Honest Lass 1996, Dean Bosworth and Gillian Yeoman (Steel).
“We would like to congratulate them on their anniversaries,” said Alison.
Anyone who would like bunting should contact the HTA via social media or its website.
