IT WAS a busy weekend for North Berwick RNLI last weekend, with three calls to help people in difficulty in the water near the town.
The first, on Saturday morning, saw volunteers called to East Bay.
At about 8.36am, a member of the Glen Golf Club heard a group of swimmers calling for help.
As the crew were preparing to launch, the local Coastguard received a call from the swimmers saying that they were safely out of the water. The launch was cancelled.
The crew was then called to two incidents on Sunday evening.
The first saw the lifeboat launched at 5.19pm to assist a broken-down powerboat.
There were two people on board the vessel off Seacliff Beach, to the east of North Berwick. On scene, the lifeboat established a tow and brought the boat back to the town.
The second saw the lifeboat launch an hour later after reports emerged of swimmers jumping off rocks at the east end of Milsey Bay and not reappearing.
The person who reported the incident was concerned the swimmers had come into difficulty as they could not see them.
A search was carried out of the area, with North Berwick Coastguard identifying the swimmers safe and well on the beach 20 minutes later; it was described as “a false alarm with good intentions”.
