The number of coronavirus cases in East Lothian has passed 600 in one week and 20 parts of the county have a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people higher than 200, but the county now has the second highest figures in Scotland.
The latest data from Public Health Scotland showed that between June 19 and 25, East Lothian recorded 668 Covid cases.
This gives a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 623.8. The test positivity rate is 10.7 per cent.
Leading the way with the highest figures in Scotland is Dundee City with a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 657.6. Third is Midlothian with 566.7 with Edinburgh following at 543.7
Only North Berwick North and Haddington South have a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people lower than 200, with the vast majority of the county recording more than 20 or 30 cases each.
The current areas of concern are listed below, in order of the number of coronavirus cases, from highest to lowest. Where two places have the same number of cases, the one with the lower population (and therefore the higher infection rate) is listed first:

- Musselburgh South – 62 cases, seven-day positive rate of 1,349.6
- Cockenzie – 58 cases, seven-day positive rate of 1,018.6
- Tranent North – 49 cases, seven-day positive rate of 717.7
- Prestonpans West – 41 cases, seven-day positive rate of 723.6
- Musselburgh North – 40 cases, seven-day positive rate of 822.2
- Musselburgh East – 39 cases, seven-day positive rate of 814.4
- Tranent South – 37 cases, seven-day positive rate of 614.3
- Musselburgh West – 33 cases, seven-day positive rate of 1,119.8
- Dunbar East – 30 cases, seven-day positive rate of 643.6
- Dunbar West – 29 cases, seven-day positive rate of 529.7
- Prestonpans East – 26 cases, seven-day positive rate of 606.9
- Longniddry and Aberlady – 23 cases, seven-day positive rate of 402.4
- Ormiston – 20 cases, seven-day positive rate of 673.9
- East Linton and Rural – 20 cases, seven-day positive rate of 366.2
- Haddington North – 18 cases, seven-day positive rate of 295.2
- Haddington Rural – 15 cases, seven-day positive rate of 236.6
- Pinkie Braes – 19 cases, seven-day positive rate of 805.1
- Gullane and Drem – 14 cases, seven-day positive rate of 317.7
- North Berwick South – 14 cases, seven-day positive rate of 298.3
- Haddington South – eight cases, seven-day positive rate of 167.5
- North Berwick North – four cases, seven-day positive rate of 123.6
The number of deaths from Covid-19 in the county remains unchanged.
The last recorded death was on March 27.
In East Lothian, 75,232 people have received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine. This equals 88.2 per cent of the population.
A total of 55,939 people have received their second dose, or 65.6 per cent of the population.
All of the county’s residents over the age of 55 have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
For 50-54-year-olds, 96 per cent have received at least one dose. The number is 89 per cent for 40-49-year-olds, 83.5 per cent for 30-39-year-olds, and 47.3 per cent for 18-29-year-olds.
In Scotland there were 3,285 newly reported cases of Covid-19 in the latest 24-hour period, the country’s highest since the start of the pandemic.
There were no new deaths reported, with 20 people currently in intensive care and 202 in hospital.
