A MUSSELBURGH man has been fined after he admitted stealing from a Prestonpans supermarket.
Kevin Yip, of Newbigging, took a quantity of meat from the Co-op on the town’s Mid Road last December.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to taking the goods when the case called at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
Yip was not in attendance but Sheriff John Cook said he was content to proceed in his absence.
The sheriff heard the stolen meat was valued at £40 and there was no recovery.
Sheriff Cook ordered Yip to pay £40 in compensation and said he must also pay a total fine of £220.
Yip admitted stealing a quantity of meat from the Co-op store on December 15 last year.
