STUNNING golf courses and impressive accommodation have helped secure a county golf club’s spot in the top 20 golf resorts in Great Britain and Ireland.
Golf World ranks 17 Scottish courses in the top 100, with Archerfield Links flying the flag for Scotland’s Golf Coast.
Each of the courses is scored out of 100, with 40 marks given for the course or courses.
Accommodation is scored out of 25, with the same mark given to non-golf amenities, and a further 10 marks for the setting.
Archerfield, between Gullane and Dirleton, scored a total of 72, with 33 for courses, 24 for accommodation, eight for amenities and seven for setting.
The magazine says: “If you want two Scottish Top 100 courses, which would be worthy GB&I entrants, and some of the finest accommodation (in lodges) in the list, this is very much for you. Real class.”
Ranked 20th, Archerfield sits behind The Machrie, on Islay; Old Course Hotel/Duke’s, St Andrews; Fairmont St Andrews; Ardfin, Jura; Trump Turnberry, near Girvan; and Gleneagles in the Scottish rankings.
