CONCERN has been raised about campervans parking overnight on Mountjoy Terrace, Musselburgh.
An appeal was made at a recent meeting of the local community council for ‘No Overnight Parking’ signs to be erected.
It was felt that, since the barrier was installed at Fisherrow Harbour, the problem had moved to Mountjoy Terrace and it could get worse over the summer months.
Ward councillor John Williamson has contacted officials at East Lothian Council for advice.
Community councillors heard that if a vehicle had an MOT, road tax and was under 3.5 tons in weight, it could be parked anywhere that was legal to do so. Putting ‘No Parking’ signs up might deter some people but, as they were not enforceable, it was “difficult to regulate”.
Irene Tait, community council chairperson, said putting up a sign in the first instance might help.
