CHANGES are being planned to a primary school this summer.
East Lothian Council is seeking permission to make alterations, including the demolition of a redundant chimney, at Cockenzie Primary School.
The planning application, which is being considered by the local authority’s planning department, outlines the work proposed.
A spokeswoman for East Lothian Council anticipated that the work could be carried out during the school holidays.
She said: “Subject to planning approval, work will be carried out at Cockenzie Primary School over the summer holidays involving major external refurbishment.
“This includes flat roofing works, rooflight and window replacement, installation of an external insulated render system and the demolition of a redundant chimney.
“In addition, internal works include an electrical rewire, new lighting and suspended ceilings to be undertaken to five classrooms.
“This is part of a rolling programme of primary school project works and maintenance.”
