AN ORMISTON drug user caught with £180 of heroin when police raided a Cockenzie home has been fined.
David Ness, of Clark Buildings, was spotted attempting to hide four bags of brown powder down the back of a sofa when police entered the home at Whin Park, Cockenzie, in February 2019.
Ness was arrested, along with co-accused former Haddington resident Lisa Rybak, and he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for sentencing on Monday.
The court was told that officers arrived at the Cockenzie home with a search warrant and found 42-year-old Ness and Rybak, 43, inside.
The officers saw Ness trying to conceal the four bags of heroin he had in his possession and Rybak was caught with a £10 bag of the Class A drug hidden in her purse.
Ness had previously pleaded guilty and he was ordered to pay a £280 fine during Monday’s court hearing.
Rybak failed to appear at court but lawyer Matthew Nicholson said she was pleading guilty to a charge of possessing the drug. Sheriff John Cook accepted the guilty plea and issued a non-appearance warrant for her immediate apprehension.
Ness and Rybak, currently of Edinburgh, both admitted possessing heroin on February 27, 2019.
