POLICE are hunting a man who assaulted an autistic man and robbed him of his bike in Prestonpans.
The vulnerable 25-year-old was cycling to his grandmother’s home when he was approached by a man near to the car park at Preston Lodge High School.
The man pulled the victim to the ground before stealing his bike and making off at about 5pm on Friday evening.
The victim’s father took to social media to appeal for witnesses to come forward or for any information leading to the culprit’s arrest.
The dad said: “My autistic son with learning disabilities was pulled off his bike in Prestonpans about 5pm on Friday, September 11.
"[It happened] near PL High School car park on the way to his granny’s [house] and he had his bike stolen. It’s a dark grey Carrera Vengeance.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland is carrying out enquiries after a man was robbed of a bike in Prestonpans on Friday, September 11.
“Anyone with any information or who knows who is responsible is asked to called 101 quoting 2667 of Friday, September 11.”
