A TOTAL of 59 people have died from Covid-19 related illness in East Lothian with 37 of them residents in care homes.
The latest figures from the National Records of Scotland saw the number of deaths registered with coronavirus mentioned as of April 26 reach 59 – up from 44 recorded the previous week in the East Lothian Council area.
Of the 59 people who died it said 37 were in care homes, 18 in hospital and four at home.
Nationally, the number of deaths recorded which mention Covid-19 up to April 26 was 2,272 with 886 of them relating to care home residents.
