ATHELSTANEFORD Primary School has united its local community by hosting a virtual talent show.
People of all ages in the school’s catchment area took part, with entrants having five minutes to show off their talent in a video uploaded to the the internet.
In total, 22 entries were submitted, featuring skills such as singing and sports to juggling and memory.
So far, the entries have received more than 3,400 views and 83 hours of engagement.
Stewart Brown, headteacher at Athelstaneford Primary School, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with how our online talent show has developed.
“Talent shows are a regular occurrence in a lot of schools. It’s a great way to celebrate wider achievement and bring people together.
“Our talent show has been no different.
“We have seen gymnasts, musicians, boxers, singers, judokas, circus acts and more. The calibre of entries has been truly remarkable.”
He added: “The thinking behind this was to give our children the opportunity to do something outside of their home learning.
“We also hoped it would help bring some joy, and everyone who has taken part has definitely helped to do that.
“The next step will be to look through all the entries and select winners and ‘honourable mentions’. This will be really difficult due to the high calibre on show.
“During this time we feel it’s really important to connect as a community and help keep spirits up.
“We are already trying to think of similar ideas so don’t be surprised if you see ‘The Athelstaneford Pet Show’ or something else incredible popping up soon on our Twitter page.”
