A HYPNOTHERAPIST is bidding to help people who feel the coronavirus is having an impact on their sleep.
Jackie Fraser is working to combat broken sleep patterns through hypnosis.
While people are increasingly staying at home due to government-issued restrictions, the coronavirus is continuing to have an impact on people’s mental health.
Dealing with sleep problems is part of Jackie’s 12-week community “give-back” programme to help people cope with coronavirus. Now, she is offering a complimentary hypnosis recording to show people how they can achieve the deep restorative sleep they need.
She said: “The coronavirus pandemic has drastically changed the way we live, and is forcing us to deal with emotions such as anxiety. It can be a constant drain on our health, both mentally and physically.
“As the nationwide lockdown goes on, people’s levels of anxiety are increasing and those who suffer from problems such as insomnia are struggling to get enough sleep.
“In fact, many people have actually found themselves suffering with sleep issues for the first time in their lives.
“We need good quality sleep to function properly, and by stressing over the coronavirus we are keeping our minds and bodies wide awake and on high alert when they need to recharge.
“While it is natural to be worried about the future, with the coronavirus still impacting day-to-day life, we need to find ways to control these worries to limit the negative effects of poor sleep.”
Jackie, who is based within Cockenzie House and Gardens, hopes to teach techniques which would help to deal with the barriers currently making life difficult.
She said: “Not dealing with sleep issues can lead to being unable to fall asleep at all, waking up several times during the night, having more intense and emotional dreams, waking up feeling tired and groggy the next morning, finding it difficult to concentrate or function properly, and feeling irritable.
“The bottom line is, sleep becomes more elusive when we are anxious.”
