RESIDENTS and staff at Eskgreen care home in Musselburgh are keen to remind people to ‘stay home and keep safe’ during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Manager Clair Anderson said: “Keeping safe is something we think about a lot at Eskgreen.

"We all want everyone to get through this outbreak as quickly and as safely as they can.”

“Our residents and their families face extra restrictions because we can’t have any visits at the moment. We keep in touch with our families on Facebook and FaceTime and that’s really great but it’s not the same as actually getting to see each other face-to-face.

“I think we just wanted to ask people out there to stick to the rules and help bring the outbreak to an end as soon as possible so we can get back a life that is something that’s a bit more like normal.”

Residents and staff are keeping cheerful with a range of activities and events to lift their spirits.

Clair added: “I think I can safely say that we are we are keeping ourselves busy and upbeat with arts and crafts, bingo nights, message boards, skittles and of course, we have ESKO’s, our very own Eskgreen mini-market.

“Local and national businesses have also been incredibly generous to residents and staff – we’ve been sent food and toiletries and all sorts of lovely things. We have been really lucky and we’re very grateful for this support.

“It makes all the difference to know that people are thinking of us. We have a fantastic staff team here and it’s wonderful to get recognition for all they are doing. The biggest thing anyone of us can do though is to follow the guidance, stay home and save lives.”

Eskgreen in Shorthope Street is operated by the East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP).
