A BEAUTY therapist got very emotional when one of her clients paid for her treatment – despite not being able to receive it due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Claire Marshall owns Beauty at Sunflowers, based on East Linton High Street, a salon she opened 24 years ago.

She decided to temporarily close her salon on March 21.

On March 25, one of her clients posted a card with £40 in it, the money she would have spent if she were able to attend her appointment.

The message in the card read: “Dear Claire, I should have been coming to see you tomorrow – Thursday. Here is what I would have paid – I think. Take care of yourself.”

Claire said: “I wasn’t even expecting it. I texted her a couple of days before to say we had to cancel because we are now in lockdown.

“She said that was absolutely fine. Then to get this letter was totally unexpected, it did make my eyes well up, she was so kind to help me out.

“I did text her afterwards to say thank you and that there was no need, but she kept saying it was fine.”

Having now been closed for about three weeks, not seeing clients and therefore not getting an income, Claire has become worried and is desperate to go back to work.

However, people have been buying gift vouchers from her and will use them once the salon can re-open.

Claire said: “That’s a real help. Even though not being able to work makes me feel terrible, I am reassured and know my clients are going to come back to me. They are supporting me, it is really nice to know I have that.

“When I am able to re-open I’m going to be really busy with people using all of these vouchers!”
