A BAND made up of Old Lorettonians from Musselburgh will premiere its new music video via YouTube this evening (Friday) amidst the Covid 19 pandemic.
The video of Chameleon Lady performing their latest single Rule This Land was also directed and produced by former Loretto pupil Lorimer Macandrew, 22, who runs his own media company Helmworks Film.
The band members are brothers Tom and Cameron Middlemass; brother and sister Robbie and Caitlin Hutchison – all former pupils from Loretto School – Kenny Hutchison, Robbie and Caitlin's dad, who taught music at Loretto for 20 years; and Michael Fitzpatrick, Kenny's nephew.
Performing their own brand of folk, rock and pop, Tom and Robbie are on guitar/drums, Cameron is lead vocals, Caitlin plays the fiddle, Kenny is on keys/accordion, and Michael bass guitar.
Tom said: "The music video for our latest single Rule This Land has been in the making since November but we figured that now was the perfect time to release it.
"It's an odd time for musicians that are used to collaborating face-to-face but we're adapting as best we can and that doesn't mean the creativity has to stop.
"Part of the reason we've decided to release it now is that spirits are low for many people and it's important to keep producing content, and keep things ticking over.
"We're also doing a weekly a capella arrangement. So far we've done When My Time Comes by Dawes and Take My Hand by Skerryvore. That proves social distancing doesn't get in the way of making great music – we're taking requests for tunes and we hope it can in turn inspire others to get creative with their recording."
Lorimer's company also produced a music video of their single Home (The Highlands), which came out in July last year and is available on YouTube
The premiere of Rule This Land is scheduled for 7pm on YouTube. Watch it here.
Tom said: "By making use of YouTube Premieres it means us and anyone that logs on can watch and experience the new video together for the first time, just like a movie premiere.
"There's also an option to interact with the viewers through comments and a live chat feature, so the band members are going to be manning those channels and ready to chat."
