FOUR men have been arrested and charged after break-ins at businesses in East Lothian in recent days.
The first incident, on January 9, was an attempt to break-in to a business premises in Longniddry.
Two men, aged 30 and 43, were apprehended by police and have been arrested and charged.
Then on January 11, the Tiger In Chinese takeaway in Cockenzie suffered a break-in where cash was stolen.
Following enquiry, a search warrant was executed and a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged.
Then during the early hours of this morning (Thursday) a shop on North High Street, Musselburgh, was broken into, with damage caused to the shop and a three-figure sum of money stolent.
A male was apprehended nearby, with money and tools also found. He has been arrested and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, Local Area Commander for East Lothia, said: “In recent weeks, we have experienced a small increase in thefts from cars and theft by housebreaking to businesses in East Lothian.
"Our CID pro-active team and local officers are working tirelessly and these arrests highlight the good work they are doing.
"These unrelated arrests are just the start of our work and in the coming days and weeks we will be knocking on the doors of other suspects involved in other thefts.
"If you see anyone acting in a suspicious manner, particularly into the early hours, please call us on 101 or 999 if an emergency."
