A NEW Post Office shop and cafe at the former Co-op building in Tranent is open for business.
Thomson’s of Tranent, on Winton Place was opened by George and Susan Thomson last Friday.
The newly refurbished building houses the Post Office, a convenience shop and a cafe (see picture above).
David Forrest, chair of Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council, said: “We’re all very impressed with what George and Susan have achieved.
“We were lucky enough to be shown around by George last week and it looks great. We certainly think that it’s going to invigorate the area and bring people to Tranent High Street.”
The new building is phase one of the complete renovation of the building, which in the future will include a soft play area, flats above the shop and a community area.
The Post Office opens from 6am every morning.
