A THIEF who broke into two Musselburgh businesses with the intention of stealing will be sentenced later this year.
Peter Rodgers, of Edinburgh’s Parkhead Avenue, forced open a locked office door at Musselburgh’s Costa Coffee outlet and searched lockers within the staff office. He then moved on to the nearby Poundstretcher store on High Street, where he forced open a locked warehouse door and hid from staff.
Rodgers was later discovered and confronted by a member of staff and went on to shout, swear and threaten to assault the employee. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to all three offences – which took place on October 22 last year – during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.
He also admitted to a further two offences on the same date of possessing a knife at Musselburgh police station and to assaulting a police officer by spitting on him at St Leonard’s police station in Edinburgh.
Sheriff Donald Corke granted Rodgers bail and deferred sentence till November 2.
