THIS year’s Edinburgh Marathon takes place on Sunday, with road closures and parking restriction in place across East Lothian as the runners take to the streets.
The annual race is the second biggest marathon in the UK behind the London event, attracting thousands of runners every year.
It starts near Holyrood Park in Edinburgh before heading out to East Lothian and along the coast road to Gosford House before looping back to the finish line at Musselburgh Racecourse.
The race is preceded on Sunday by a half marathon which begins at 8am and goes from Holyrood to Prestongrange Mining Museum before looping back to the finish line.
The full marathon starts at 9.50am, followed 10 minutes later by the team relay marathon.
More than 30,000 people took part in last year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival, which also includes shorter runs in Edinburgh on Saturday before the main Sunday events.
