FORMER Marillion frontman Fish is to play a special gig in Haddington this month to help a restaurant which has been closed by major flooding.
The 54-year-old will play an acoustic show with the Fishheads - along side Foss Patterson and Frank Usher - to raise money for the Waterloo Bistro's flood prevention scheme.
The restaurant flooded in July when the lade which runs along side the nearby River Tyne overflowed during torrential rain, leaving water up to three feet deep inside the venue.
The Waterloo has been closed since while owner Paul Kinnoch repairs the damage caused, and is set to be shut for another couple of months.
The money will help pay for flood gates to be installed at the front and side doors of the venue, which would stop any water from being able to enter the building in future.
Mr Kinnoch has been given advice by East Lothian Council on the gates, but no cost for them has yet been identified.
He has also discussed the issue of the lade with Friends of the River Tyne, which is working for the conservation of the river area.
Paul said: "I want to express my thanks to any attendees [of the gig] and have offered 15 percent discount off any meal over 20 when the restaurant reopens in a couple of months.
"There are only 400 tickets available and I expect strong local support for the event so if you are planning on joining us I'd suggest you get your tickets early.
"They are for sale from today on the website www.fish-thecompany.com" The concert is on September 28, with doors open at 7pm, and tickets are also available from the Tyneside Tavern, the Plough Tavern, Kesley's Bookshop in Haddington and Andersons butchers in North Berwick.
