A FIRE took hold of a derelict property in Tranent on Saturday evening, leaving the property severely damaged.

Five fire engines were deployed to the scene after thick smoke was seen at the property on Edinburgh Road.
The blaze engulfed the house at around 7pm, resulting in a closure to the street until the fire was put out.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.06pm on Saturday, May 21 to reports of a house fire in Tranent, East Lothian.
"Operations Control mobilised five appliances to the town's Edinburgh Road, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire.
"Crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.
"There were no casualties."
