A MUSSELBURGH man has been released from custody after being sentenced to a community payback order.
Ben Vanhagen was remanded by a sheriff last month after he admitted several charges, including breaching bail conditions and uttering threats of violence towards police officers.
The 22-year-old was first granted bail at Edinburgh Sheriff Court (pictured) on April 22, 2022, and told he must not enter an address at Scarlett Park in Wallyford.
But he breached the strict rules by attending at the property without the permission of the homeowners on July 15 the same year.
Vanhagen, of Delta Road, was also arrested at the same house on July 13 last year following an alleged incident and, while being taken to an Edinburgh police station, he began behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
He shouted, swore and made threats of violence towards constables during the journey on the same date.
The court also heard that Vanhagen had committed the second offence while on four bail orders from the Capital court.
He appeared back in the dock from custody for sentencing last Wednesday and Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss agreed to admonish him on two bail breach offences.
The sheriff also imposed a community order for the incident involving the police officers and told Vanhagen that he must wear an electronic tagging device and stay within his home between 7pm and 7am each night for four months.
The offender was also placed under the supervision of the local social work department for 18 months and must attend drug treatment appointments when required to do so.
