A SINGER who has performed across the UK, Tenerife and Las Vegas has helped raise more than £9,000 for two good causes.
Frankie Mack entertained a full house at Haddington’s Maitlandfield House Hotel in aid of Lammermuir Larder, before performing in Tranent as part of a fundraiser for Prostate Cancer.
In Haddington, the singer performed songs from well-known swing artists and also from his new CD, My Woman, My Wife.
During the evening, there was also a raffle and silent auction.
Numerous businesses from throughout the town and beyond donated raffle prizes for the evening.
Lammermuir Larder, which is based in Haddington, is a community food initiative which supports people in the Haddington and Lammermuir area.
The group provides emergency food support and also offers an advocacy service.
Linda Mitchell, Lammermuir Larder vice-chair, said: “The feedback following the event was fantastic.
“Everyone had a wonderful night and we raised over £2,100!
“We wish to thank Frankie Mack, the businesses who supported us and everyone who attended the event for helping us raise this fantastic amount.
“We will see you all at our next event!”
The second event took place at Tranent’s East Lothian Co-operative Bowling Club.
Frankie, who is performing in Edinburgh in May, was joined by Tranent singer Dean Jones for the event, which was hosted by radio presenter Davie Martin.
In total, more than £7,100 was raised at the event, with money still being counted up.
Timmy Thompson, who helped organise the fundraiser for Prostate Cancer UK alongside Robert Campbell Snr and Lynne Rankin, was pleased to say that it had been a great success.
March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Timmy said: “The people of Tranent have been so generous.
“Robert and Avril Campbell own AC’s Taxis and they sponsored the event.
“The staff and the drivers, they raised £1,845.
“It has just been so quick to organise and to get it done.
“The people of Tranent were giving prizes and helping out.
“One girl, she is a right blether, she did a sponsored silence at the bingo and had to blow a whistle when winning a prize.
“She raised about £760.”
