St Boswells 42 14 Dunbar
Dunbar rounded their season off with a disappointing defeat at St. Boswells, all-but ensuring the Borders side will take the East League Divsion 1 title.
Youngster Thomas Salkeld started at scrum-half for the visitors, while Blair Mills moved to full-back, and a youthful Dunbar side was completed by Aaron McLellan, Finlay Darrah and Conlin McArthur.
The hosts took an early lead through a penalty, and scored the first try 13 minutes in as they powered over from close range.
The try was converted, and another pair of penalties meant the unbeaten league leaders lead 16-0 after half an hour.
Blair Mills, the Dunbar skipper, was off-target with a three-point attempt of his own, and St Boswells all-but ensured victory with their second try of the half shortly before the interval.
A sustained period of pressure near the Dunbar line saw the visitors make some big tackles, but the ball was worked wide, where the home side crossed.
The conversion meant Dunbar were 23 points adrift at the break, and with only pride to play for in their final 40 minutes of the season.
After the break, Mark Coull's side put in a much improved performance, and got on the board when Mills dived over after a good solo break.
Ross Charlton converted, but the home side struck back with their third try shortly after, to restore their healthy advantage.
Ewan Patrizio grabbed a second consolation score late on for the county side, but St Boswells had the final say as they crossed for a bonus-point try with the final play.
Victory for the Borders side means they are 14 points clear of North Berwick at the top of the table, but the East Lothian men have four games still to play, to St Boswells' three.
Dunbar, meanwhile, end the season with seven wins and 11 losses from their 18 league games, and ensured their place in East 1 after a difficult start to the season.
