HISTORY has been made after Craigielaw Golf Club won the Lothians Team Tournament for the first time.

The prestigious tournament was played on Saturday at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club in Prestonpans.

The Craigielaw trio of Guy Dalziel, Kenneth Glen and Marc Reid came out on top among 49 teams from throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Their final score of seven-under-par put them seven shots ahead of Silverknowes, with Dunbar two shots further adrift in third spot.

Dalziel, who is captain at Craigielaw, told the Courier: “Craigielaw are delighted to have won the Lothians Team Tournament for the first time in the club’s history.

“We have come close to winning in previous years but always came short.

“To win by seven shots is an amazing achievement for us.

“It’s always a pleasure representing Craigielaw Golf Club and we really appreciate everything the club do to support us which allows us to compete at our best!

“The team would like to thank Royal Musselburgh for hosting the event and the Lothians committee for organising.”

In the Walker Trophy, for the affiliate clubs, it was Thorntree that narrowly beat George Heriots on countback.
