Dunbar United 1

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 2

TWO goals in the first 20 minutes gave Dunbar United too much to do as they lost out to Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts in the East of Scotland (Qualifying) Cup final.

The Seasiders had hoped to pick up their first cup since making the move into the senior ranks.

However, the cup final, which was played at Newtongrange this afternoon (Sunday), did not go in their favour.

The Fife side were in front after just 12 minutes when Aaron Wood broke the deadlock.

That advantage was doubled just six minutes later through Ben Finnan.

Dunbar fought to get back into the contest but could not find a way through the defence of their fellow East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) Premier Division side before the half time interval.

Kevin Haynes and his team kept pushing and Taylor Hendry gave them hope when he netted from the penalty spot with 18 minutes left.

However, despite their efforts, they could not find a leveller as the fans from Fife toasted success.
