FIREFIGHTERS were called out in the early hours of this morning (Friday) after a van caught fire in Prestonpans.
Emergency services, including police, were called to the town's Rigley Terrace at about 1am.
The van - which appeared to belong to D&P Plumbing, of the town's Mid Road Industrial Estate - was severely damaged during the early morning blaze.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed an investigation into the fire had already been launched.
They said: "Around 1am on Friday, 19 May, 2023, we were made aware of a vehicle fire on Rigley Terrace, Prestonpans.
"It was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and there were no reports of injuries.
"The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
Meanwhile, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed they had been in attendance.
They said: “We were alerted at 12.41am on Friday, May 19, to reports of a van on fire at Rigley Terrace, Prestonpans.
“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one van.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
